The transceiver case is kind of like a phone case, but for a walkie-talkie. It is shaped such that it can be clipped onto the back and sides of one while still leaving gaps for the buttons, antenna, and the various ports and knobs on top. She could still try to break it open for goodies, though.
Morning 001 Hour 6: II.A.25
Steph builds a crude shelter in this square.
Hour 7: II.A.25 -> II.C.27 (medium freshwater fish - looks like what would happen if a salmon had a baby with a mudskipper; partially stranded, easy enough to catch by hand)
The stream trails off quickly within the forest, eventually leading to an anemic-looking bubbling spring in a small clearing. There's obvious signs that this used to be more of an oasis, though - lots of mud around an old waterline, rotted and regrown roots. The animal tracks that Steph had been following continue past this point, headed southeast, but tracking the animal without aid of a riverbank to preserve its path requires a lot more thorough searching. Her progress through the forest is reduced accordingly.
Hour 8: II.C.27 -> II.D.27 (small crawfish)
Day 001 Hour 1: II.D.27 -> II.E.28 (one ripe banana) Hour 2: II.E.28 -> II.F.29 Hour 3: II.F.29 -> II.G.30 (stick of beef jerky - probably well past its expiration date, if you could read it on the faded packaging, but it's still sealed at least)
A much larger creek can be seen ahead, which is also where the tracks Steph saw - plus several others - seem to be congregating. If she waits, and she's feeling like hunting, her food might come to her in a few hours.
