Since I just saw it mentioned in Lalo's thread, I'll say Kokichi stealthily nicked Lalo's abandoned dead cell phone before he went up in his tree. Who knows, it could come in handy later.

He's staying in his tree for the time being, though he doesn't immediately go to sleep – just pretends to while keeping alert and waiting for the others to sleep first.
