The unfamiliar language initially gets a wince out of him – or at least, what approximates one in normal Dirk microexpressions – like goddamn, a language barrier's the last thing his socially incompetent ass needs right now. But as he listens to them bicker, he thinks he might begin to pick up on a pattern in all that clicking and humming. When he's directly addressed, he holds up a hand, like give me a second here, before slowly and carefully attempting to mimic the sounds back at them.
