Around now would be when Squalo would divert north towards the caldera, but if he wants to take the path of least resistance (and less risk), continuing to circle the mountain west would be the way to go.
Squalo crosses the small stream that was spawned from the spring further west, and based on how it cuts through the mountain to the west, he'll probably have to cross it again on the other side.
Squalo has gambled on a place to sleep, but unfortunately this gamble has not paid off for him today. The sun sets on a bare hillside with only small trees and shrubs, forcing Squalo to either settle down in the open or try to travel in the dark until he finds something better.
