Dirk takes the tarp to use as a waterproof roof for his camp and spends the early part of the night fussing with the structure of his shitty little lean-to to improve it. He waits a while after dark to see if there's any change in what can be seen to the southeast once night falls – lights more visible in the dark or anything – before snagging some sleep.
