Randvi and Steph are successful in making it to the higher floors of the hotel without falling and breaking their necks along the way. There isn't much to be found up there in terms of materials - it's all pretty thoroughly burned-out or collapsed into the lower levels - but it's easy to see now that this area was definitely the fire's source. In particular, there's a stretch of scoured hallway that has a clear, scorched line across the already charred carpet, traveling in a jagged spider-web-like pattern between the husk of a utilities closet and an outlet near what used to be the elevators.
