The more intact sections of the building help to keep Jet safe and relatively dry from the storm during his prolonged stay (although there's more than one instance of lightning definitely striking the roof, and powerful gusts of wind blowing new shards of glass out of already shattered windows like shrapnel, Jet manages to remain unharmed). Traveling through the mostly destroyed section in VI.K.13 is a bit more perilous, but also profitable; most of the items Jet finds are from this square, tumbled in from the storm.
Jet only manages to get a rudimentary look through square VI.J.13 - it's mostly hallways and closed doors, set up like the real guts of an office complex rather than the opulent main hall to the south. A lot of doors are locked or jammed shut. There are a few intact stairwells, but whether or not the landings on the other floors are unblocked is more of a gamble.
