Dirk leaves with Senku and Steph initially, but his curiosity gets the better of him and he returns to take a look at the thing soon after. He's being careful about it, though, and he'll first find a pebble to lob at it from a distance through the open doorway in the safety glass to see if there's any reaction to motion or contact.
