Granted, his version of "taking it easy" still involves thorough searches of the airfield, taking stock of supplies to see what's available, and helping with clean up after the storm and crabs. At least he's not going out to fuck around in the jungle.
After he's healed up and while waiting for the others to be ready for this planned ocean venture, he gets into a more intense examination of the power system at the airfield. He looks around similarly to how he did at the bungalow to establish how the building was supposed to be powered, experiments with the single-prong power cable he found if anything looks like it might be functional with it, follows any wiring/pipelines as best he can to see where things connect and if there might be some underground power source here too.
Once he's done as much with all that as he can, he'll raid the Team Science inventory for tools, wire, magnets, and other basic materials and scraps and see if he can put together a simple electric generator. He'll make this first attempt powered by a hand-crank, but he'll take a look around whenever he takes breaks to see if there's anywhere nearby he might be able to make use of wind or water power for future attempts.
