Since Lalo's taking the lead, Kokichi's focus will instead be on keeping an eye out for anything interesting/suspicious. He'll poke around as much as he can while still keeping up with Lalo. He'll pay attention for any obvious food/freshwater, but as he's no outdoor survivalist, he'll be mostly looking for anything manmade.
Hearing about the drones on the walkie-talkies, he'll see if he can find any decent sized rocks he can pocket, anything from the size of a large marble to a tennis ball.
If they stop on the beach to camp at some point, he'll try covering the Electrobomb he woke up with in sand to help soak up any water, though he definitely won't try using it for at least a day or two to make sure it's fully dry so it doesn't get wasted.
