Hiatus/Canon Update

HIATUS/CANON UPDATE

Hiatuses and canon updates operate in roughly the same way.

Taking a hiatus or a canon update will exempt you from the current AC cycle.
Hiatuses and canon updates can be submitted throughout the month and up to the 3rd of the following month without any penalties.
Taking consecutive hiatuses, canon updates, or a combination of the two will result in a strike for the second month, rather than a full exemption.
ICly, you can opt to have your character either disappear or die and then not come back until you return from hiatus/their canon update is complete.

The only difference between a hiatus and a canon update is that (aside from the obvious canon-updating process), a canon update is not permitted if the canon content was released less than one month ago.

HIATUS

Players can submit a hiatus at any time, for any reason, and it will exempt your character(s) from the AC cycle it was submitted for. If you need to hiatus for more than one AC cycle, please contact me directly.

To submit a hiatus, fill out the following form (make sure to replace all **UPPERCASE WORDS**) and comment it to this post.

CANON UPDATE

Players can submit a canon update at any time and for any reason, keeping in mind that any newly-released canon content cannot be used in the game until it is at least one month old. Characters will awaken on the island's shores just like if they returned from a hiatus, except all consequences of the canon update (new memories/items/injuries/etc.) will have taken effect and stay there for concurrent revivals.

To submit a canon update, fill out the following form (make sure to replace all **UPPERCASE WORDS**) and comment it to this post.

AC Period: July; I'll be traveling and likely without much internet from 6/28 to 7/15.
Disappearance or Death?: Either death or some sort of immobilization that would remove her from normal gameplay (ex. sticking her in a cell and having her communicator filched). I have no real preference for how this happens, and am down for her being taken out of commission either in her current thread with the mod journal or in some subsequent accident!

Hiatus received! Shaw will be killed per request on Day 011 and be revived on Day 020. She will awaken in square IX.M.7, keeping all of her possessions including her found ones. Her physical condition will be reset, but her arrival items will not.

The square description is:

The fine white sand under Shaw's back is warm and pleasant, and the sound of gently lapping waves coincides with the feeling of water licking at her feet. The coastline rises above the waves to the north, then continues in a meandering line to the southeast.

QUESTION not to be a pain, but would it be possible for her to wake up a little earlier (since I'll be returning on 7/15 and Day 20 doesn't start until 7/31)? If this isn't possible for plot reasons, I understand, but if I can I'd love to be able to jump back into the thick of things once I'm home.

Also, if this isn't possible, could I potentially rescind my death request and just handwave her movements while I'm gone?

Apologies, you'd specified the dates but my sleep-addled brain apparently didn't read them! Returning on 7/15 (current calendar would put that at IC Night 017) and handwaving her movements/retroactively submitting search requests for that timeframe is totally acceptable. I'll edit that NPC comment back, too.

Thank you, sorry for the trouble! Just for my own knowledge going forward when deciding whether or not to request a death/let my character die: should I assume that dead characters will always be out of commission for a week-ish of IC time going forward?

Depends on the time of hiatus and method; generally a death/disappearance related to hiatus or canon update would last as long as the player needs (for a hiatus) or wants (for a canon update), up to an OOC month (about 10 IC days at most).

Gotcha! So would it be okay for me to kill her and have her revive on or around 7/15 OOC time/Night 017 IC time? I'm admittedly still a little confused about whether that's an option, because if it is, that's the one I'd prefer to go with! I'd only rather backtrack and keep her alive/handwave her presence while I'm gone if her dying means she'd need to stay dead until 7/31 / Day 20.

Yeah, killing her off until 7/15 (Night 017) is absolutely fine! That's what it should have been in my original comment - I just misread your request the first time around. She also doesn't have do die as a direct result of the ongoing NPC thread happening on Day 011 - I can come up with something else that will happen to her on 6/28 (Night 014) to kill her, or you can coordinate a death that involves other players.

My own apologies for the misunderstanding - hopefully this is a more agreeable solution!

Shaw will be killed per request on Night 014 and be revived on Night 017. Following her mysterious conversation on Day 011, she'll get the sense that she's being watched at night, and periodically tailed during the twilight hours, but won't catch sight of who or what is following her until she's abruptly murdered in her sleep. She will awaken in square IX.M.7, keeping all of her possessions including her found ones. Her physical condition will be reset, but her arrival items will not.

The square description is:

I know I had to do this in Sept as well, so if you need to give me a strike I understand. I'm incredibly overwhelmed by IRL stuff right now and not adjusting well (this cross country move took a lot out of me and I'm just now ending a job that has me getting up at 4:30am). I'm also like a zillion IC days behind and rather than dropping bc of anxiety I think just hiatusing and coming back in December will be easier to save me.

Senku will be ???? about missing Boarpocalypse.

Hiatus received with no strike penalty, as you made AC last month. Senku will disappear as soon as he returns to shore and reappear Morning 046 on square XI.BB.16. Any arrival items not on his person will disappear with him. He will have dropped all of his possessions obtained since arrival. His physical condition and arrival items will reset upon reappearance.
