The wires do seem to dive further into the floor, yes! It's hard to get a good look at how deep that goes though - both because of Lalo's shitty phone flashlight (sorry Lalo but it's true) (no the lighter doesn't help) and because, with only one leg of the table partially elevated, they cant lift it high enough to get a good sightline anyway.
It's not clear what's killed the weird salamander creature. Rust does find it kind of far from water, though; maybe it just had too much time in the sun?
Speaking of water - the river flows north, and it's not too deep or fast-moving to cross, with reasonably clear water flowing over rocky sediment. It's not exactly mountain spring water, but it's not horribly murky, either. They can actually see where it flows into the ocean about four kilometers north-northeast of them, and how it plunges into the deeper jungle several kilometers to the southwest.
As a note: The search results given earlier cover all of Day 010, which means this one would pick up at the start of Night 010. Would Rust and Lalo wait until morning 011 to resume their search, or continue through the night?
