Day 024 ➜ Night 024 Starting Square: VII.S.7 Ending Square: VII.O.9 Duration: 16 hours General Search Results:
a single tooth
plastic food wrapper
three taro roots
cleaned animal pelt - reptilian, but with weird patches of fur-like material around the edges
length of fishing line
a water chestnut
five handfuls of watermint
squirrel tail
two beer cans
five handfuls of wild rice
seven cattails
broken propeller blade
Rust's keen eyes don't see anything amiss as he travels along the river back to square VII.O.9. This section of the river further west is easily crossable; he should have no trouble doing so after he's done searching the old campsite. He has a little more trouble finding a suitable tree to climb in, since most of the ones in this square are trying to grow in waterlogged soil and seem kind of precarious in how they all lean towards the river, but he's easily able to find one that has an exposed, slightly uprooted base to bury Lalo's things. They disappear, unseen, while he's working on his art project in the side of the tree.
When Rust next turns around, he's met by a hulking creature - easily six and a half feet tall, biped, mostly long legs and bulky muscle, covered loosely in hide and leather clothes over rust-red, jagged scales. Its face, by comparison, is surprisingly smooth and flat, and is dominated by two sets of pitch black eyes. It's been standing behind him in complete silence for an indeterminant amount of time, maybe a foot away from his back.
This is all the detail Rust is able to take in before the creature lunges at him.
cashing in that promise I made when I accepted Rust's application
