Search Requests
SEARCH REQUESTS
At game start, the map is completely unexplored and covered by a "fog of war" obscuring its features. New characters will be randomly dropped onto the island's shores; from there, to uncover tiles on the map and figure out more about where they are, search requests are required to document movement, attempt to uncover hidden materials and passages, discover or confront dangers, find old ruins and create new settlements, and potentially, solve puzzles related to the mystery of the island itself.
RULES AND GUIDELINES
- Search requests are a required mechanic of this game. A search request for the current AC cycle must be submitted in order to pass AC without a strike.
- Mistakes in search requests will never be penalized. Don't be afraid to eyeball a distance or make an approximate guess; if the math doesn't quite match up, or the path doesn't exist, I will offer alternate destinations and work with you in order to decide how the search request will resolve.
- Search requests will rarely be immediately fatal. Unless your character is doing something intentionally reckless, I will do my best to offer paths of escape for any sudden dangers that arise.
- You can be as precise or as vague as you want. If you want to exactly plot out the squares your character will travel through and search every IC day, that is totally fine. It's also fine to simply report that your character is staying in one place all month, or to give a starting point and a desired destination, with a general request to search a wide area. Just note that, the more vague you are in your request, the more I will extrapolate to fill in the blanks.
- Retroactive/backdated search requests are allowed. They just can't be used for the current month's AC if they fall outside of the current month's AC period, or overwrite a previously submitted search request. Forward-dated search requests are also allowed as long as they fall within the same IC day that the request was posted (for example, if you post a search request on IC Day 30 morning, you can make that search request last for the entirety of IC day 30, not just the morning of).
- Thoroughly searching a square, rather than just traveling through it, halves movement through that square. So if you choose to search every square along a path, you'll only travel half as far as someone moving with purpose to a destination. Remember that simply traveling through a square will still fully reveal it.
- IC Days are split into three 8-hour increments. Each of these corresponds to one OOC day. Morning is from 4AM -> 11:59AM, Day is from 12PM -> 7:59PM, and Night is 8PM -> 3:59AM.
- Several examples of search requests are provided below to help illustrate how they work. If you still have questions, please ask them in the FAQ (or in your search request!).

SUBMISSIONS
All new characters will be given a toplevel to this post. To submit a search request, fill out the below form and copy/paste it as a response to your toplevel.
IC DATES: The IC dates the search request covers (I would also recommend putting this in the subject line to make it easier to keyword search later). You can use whole days, partial days, or a combination of either. To verify what IC days line up with real-world days and events, consult the Calendar.
STARTING SQUARE: The square your character is starting their search request on, format TILE.COLUMN.ROW. This should line up with your previous search request, or your starting location if newly arrived/revived.
ENDING SQUARE: The square your character is ending their search request on. If you're not sure where they'll end up (the area is unexplored/your character has a vague idea of where they want to go/you're not sure on the math/etc.), you can give a more rough answer here. Something like "they want to make it to Tile II," or "as close to II.AA.3 as possible" are perfectly valid answers.
DETAILS: The meat of your request. This is where you describe:
- The path your character is taking,
- The squares you want them to search,
- Any special actions your character is taking during this period of time (or inaction), and
- Any other special notes or questions you might have about this request.

Harley Quinn | DC Comics
Day 23
STARTING SQUARE: IV.F.24
ENDING SQUARE: ???
DETAILS:
The beach here tells a story of a battered coastline, littered with pebbles and jagged rocks. The tide hasn't had a chance to come in yet, but from the shore Harley can see riptides pulling the waves away at a frightening speed. Even the oceanside trees look ragged - bent away, uprooted, and stripped of leaves, replacing the sand with an assortment of leaf litter and discarded shells of bark and fruit. A lot of the damage looks alarmingly fresh.
Harley wonders if the recent storm that appears to have passed through is responsible for her washing up on this rough-looking beach. She's going to grab the nearest stick or break a small branch off of one of the damaged trees if she can, and poke around the beach to see if anything she's missing is among the debris (purse, phone, boyfriend). She'll also keep an eye out for any cool sea shells or sea glass.
Eventually, she'll grab the radio nearby and set off following the coastline to the west, continuing to look around for anything that might belong to her or others.

Starting Square: IV.F.24
Ending Square: III.X.21
Duration: 8 hours
General Search Results:
Harley doesn't find any signs of recent human habitation, but she does eventually find the remains of a massive airplane cockpit partially buried in the sand, nose-down, in nearby square III.W.21.
no subject
Is it now night time? Either way she's bee-lining for the cockpit, with the goal to try and climb inside and monkey around.
no subject
Starting Square: III.X.21
Ending Square: III.W.21
Duration: 8 hours
General Search Results:
It is night time! Climbing inside proves difficult - the cockpit is near vertical, with the only opening large enough for a human Harley's size to comfortably squeeze through being the ragged end of it about thirty feet in the air. What she finds during her search is mostly stuff scattered in the sand around it and things she can pull through the shattered passenger windows within reach. She can make a more concerted effort to get inside, but doing so will be very dangerous.

Is the travel water bottle empty?
What do the pants look like?
She's going to spruce up her transceiver with the polka dotted case and then add the antenna to see if it looks like it does anything before she goes to sleep.
no subject
Screwing the antenna into the proper place makes a new tab appear at the top of Harley's transceiver menu, simply labeled "SOS".

Day 24
STARTING SQUARE: III.X.21
ENDING SQUARE: Probably still III.X.21
DETAILS: Harley is going to wake up in the morning next to the plane and then scrounge around again, this time mostly just getting kind of desperate for food.
She'll then attempt the ridiculous climb up into the only way into the cockpit that she can see, using the jeans to wrap up the transceiver to carry like a baby in a bjorn so that both her hands are free. She's confident in the physical shape she's in but she's also never had to climb plane wreckage so this new SOS upgrade is a good plan b.

Starting Square: III.X.21
Ending Square: III.X.21
Duration: 8 hours
General Search Results:
As it turns out, climbing up the side of an airplane is really difficult! Harley makes it most of the way, thanks to her own physical fitness and sheer gumption - far enough to find a gap in the fuselage that lets her nab some goodies wedged in a chair - but as she shifts her weight, so too does the cockpit. The whole thing creaks and leans, Harley's handhold breaks away, and she falls. Miraculously, her landing is broken by the incoming tide, and she escapes the encounter unscathed (save maybe a bruise or two to her body and ego).

STARTING SQUARE: III.X.21
ENDING SQUARE: ???
DETAILS: Harley should be thrilled to have survived the fall with no injuries, but the bruised ego still smarts. She was so close. She glares at the cockpit while eating her prize peanuts and settles on returning to the dangerous venture once she's gathered supplies and reinforcements. She also keeps the sage, if only to munch on the raw leaves if she can't find any other food. She slips on the pants which provide better protection and cover for her legs and heads out into the jungle with the travel water bottle and her fancy transceiver. She leaves behind the seat cushion and flip-flop next to the plane.
She moves southwest towards the mountains, after getting an ASCII map and directions from K the night before. She is trying to avoid the area around the cabin and is hoping to end up somewhere near the VI.AA.29/the caldera to meet up with him. She'll be searching for food and water along the way, and will want to try to find a place to rest come nightfall.

Starting Square: III.X.21
Ending Square: VII.E.7
Duration: 8 hours
General Search Results:
Harley follows a path southwest that more or less mirrors Chloe's going in the opposite direction, although there is no sign of the old campsite she was injured at as she passes through that particular square. She ends up in the foothills in tile VII as it starts to get dark - and stumbles upon a large bush covered in vines, all of which are weighed down with plum-like fruit. There's at least a dozen of them that look ripe.

Just before sunrise (Morning 025 hour 1), Harley suddenly becomes intensely sick, hindering her movement by one square until the start of Night 025.
Day 25
STARTING SQUARE: VII.E.7
ENDING SQUARE: VI.Y.19
DETAILS: Harley is officially no longer having fun on this island vacation and she entirely blames not being able to get into that plane cockpit and get some more complimentary airline peanuts.
She wakes up feeling sick, unpleasantly empties her stomach, and continues moving southwest in a trudge. She doesn't feel up to eating and actively tries to avoid thinking about food along the way. If she can make it to the river at VI.Y.19, she's going to stop and rest there. She's drinking some fresh water, filling up her water bottle, and washing up the best she can.
no subject
Starting Square: VII.E.7
Ending Square: VI.Y.19
Duration: 17 hours
General Search Results:
Harley can see the river from a significant distance away and can make it there one hour into Night 025, which will give her plenty of time to rest now that she's recovered from her illness. Her movement penalty no longer applies after this point.

Day 26
STARTING SQUARE: VI.Y.19
ENDING SQUARE: VI.AA.29
DETAILS: Harley makes sure to hydrate and has an apple for breakfast before heading south-ish towards the spot where she is supposed to meet K and Senku. She'll travel around the river if she can (thanks to the ASCII map K shared) and will be looking for food along the way that doesn't resemble the Danger Plums that made her sick the day before. If she makes it to the square before anyone else, she'll wait there for them.
no subject
Starting Square: VI.Y.19
Ending Square: VI.AA.29
Duration: 16 hours
General Search Results:
Harley hikes south over the spines of the central mountain without difficulty, parking in square VI.AA.29 right at the end of Morning 026. Down the slope to her direct west is the tattered skeleton of a massive airplane fuselage; the colors and rough size are similar to the cockpit she encountered the day of her arrival, but the state of decay makes it hard to determine for certain if they're from the same plane.
K and Senku do not arrive at the designated meeting spot during the morning or day.

Days 28-40
STARTING SQUARE: IX.T.9
ENDING SQUARE: IX.T.9
DETAILS: Harley arrives at the airfield with K and Senku. She spends a day or so familiarizing herself with the place, letting K show her around, and then tries to keep herself busy. She shadows K and tries to help him out with any chores and little things that need to be done around the airfield, mostly cooking and preparing the gross crab and the wonderful wonderful boar.
She also spends her days building and destroying sandcastles that take on the appearance of the Gotham skyline, affixing a broken knife tip to a spear shaft and practicing throwing it at trees and points in the sand, attempting to climb and hang from any trees along the treeline that she's able, and annoying whoever is out and about at the airfield. She also bathes, washes her clothes, and tries to fit private time in with K.
She'll keep an eye out for any interesting rocks, gems, sea glass, or seashells, but she expects the area to be fairly picked over when it comes to more interesting debris.

Starting Square: IX.T.9
Ending Square: IX.T.9
Duration: 312 hours
General Search Results:
Most of the excitement surrounding Harley's stay happens on Day 028, where she has an absolutely heroic battle against a group of six coconut crabs menacing her spot on the beach. Harley escapes without any injuries and returns to the airfield with six freshly-killed crabs.
