Search Requests
SEARCH REQUESTS
At game start, the map is completely unexplored and covered by a "fog of war" obscuring its features. New characters will be randomly dropped onto the island's shores; from there, to uncover tiles on the map and figure out more about where they are, search requests are required to document movement, attempt to uncover hidden materials and passages, discover or confront dangers, find old ruins and create new settlements, and potentially, solve puzzles related to the mystery of the island itself.
RULES AND GUIDELINES
- Search requests are a required mechanic of this game. A search request for the current AC cycle must be submitted in order to pass AC without a strike.
- Mistakes in search requests will never be penalized. Don't be afraid to eyeball a distance or make an approximate guess; if the math doesn't quite match up, or the path doesn't exist, I will offer alternate destinations and work with you in order to decide how the search request will resolve.
- Search requests will rarely be immediately fatal. Unless your character is doing something intentionally reckless, I will do my best to offer paths of escape for any sudden dangers that arise.
- You can be as precise or as vague as you want. If you want to exactly plot out the squares your character will travel through and search every IC day, that is totally fine. It's also fine to simply report that your character is staying in one place all month, or to give a starting point and a desired destination, with a general request to search a wide area. Just note that, the more vague you are in your request, the more I will extrapolate to fill in the blanks.
- Retroactive/backdated search requests are allowed. They just can't be used for the current month's AC if they fall outside of the current month's AC period, or overwrite a previously submitted search request. Forward-dated search requests are also allowed as long as they fall within the same IC day that the request was posted (for example, if you post a search request on IC Day 30 morning, you can make that search request last for the entirety of IC day 30, not just the morning of).
- Thoroughly searching a square, rather than just traveling through it, halves movement through that square. So if you choose to search every square along a path, you'll only travel half as far as someone moving with purpose to a destination. Remember that simply traveling through a square will still fully reveal it.
- IC Days are split into three 8-hour increments. Each of these corresponds to one OOC day. Morning is from 4AM -> 11:59AM, Day is from 12PM -> 7:59PM, and Night is 8PM -> 3:59AM.
- Several examples of search requests are provided below to help illustrate how they work. If you still have questions, please ask them in the FAQ (or in your search request!).

SUBMISSIONS
All new characters will be given a toplevel to this post. To submit a search request, fill out the below form and copy/paste it as a response to your toplevel.
IC DATES: The IC dates the search request covers (I would also recommend putting this in the subject line to make it easier to keyword search later). You can use whole days, partial days, or a combination of either. To verify what IC days line up with real-world days and events, consult the Calendar.
STARTING SQUARE: The square your character is starting their search request on, format TILE.COLUMN.ROW. This should line up with your previous search request, or your starting location if newly arrived/revived.
ENDING SQUARE: The square your character is ending their search request on. If you're not sure where they'll end up (the area is unexplored/your character has a vague idea of where they want to go/you're not sure on the math/etc.), you can give a more rough answer here. Something like "they want to make it to Tile II," or "as close to II.AA.3 as possible" are perfectly valid answers.
DETAILS: The meat of your request. This is where you describe:
- The path your character is taking,
- The squares you want them to search,
- Any special actions your character is taking during this period of time (or inaction), and
- Any other special notes or questions you might have about this request.

Day 1
STARTING SQUARE: V.Q.21
ENDING SQUARE: not sure of exact square but she's heading to the cave
DETAILS: Randvi wakes up and immediately comes to the conclusion that an enemy/bandit has left her there to be swept out with the tide. The best place for a boat to dock to drop her off is in the cave to the north so she's going to check that out.
Three things:
1: Once she gets to the cave (she's hoping for guys she can fuck up but I'm assuming there are no guys lol) she's going to look around pretty thoroughly for clues to where they would have gone (evidence of mooring a boat etc) but on the walk from the beach to the cave she is both so focused and so furious that she could walk right by a portal home without seeing it.
2. I'm assuming it would take an hour tops to walk to the cave since she can see it from the starting position.
3. Not important for this because she would be going there even in an imminent death situation but how long does Randvi have until the tide actually puts her at risk?
Also, unfortunately it looks like the grid labels are missing on tile V.

DETAILS: As soon as it's bright enough to be awoken by the sun, she's going to check this place out more.
I know it says that thoroughly searching a beach tile takes half an hour but that seems way too short to me here (especially since she's probably still feeling falling while climbing yesterday lol) so it will take however long it takes. In order she’ll search the outdoor area, the hangars (any she can get into but she's feeling bolder in the daylight so even if it's a bit risky she’ll still chance it), and then the tower.

Day 3

ENDING SQUARE: depends on what she gets up to
DETAILS: Randvi will sleep 2 hours into morning again because she's waking up the same way as yesterday.
She’ll check her rain funnel but I don't think it'll have anything yet. (if there is anything she’ll take some in the plastic bottle)
After talking to everyone yesterday about planes she's going to take the morning block to go through the biggest hangar (the one set off by itself) looking for the sorts of things people described to her (maps, signs, pieces of planes, anything that might point to evidence that the people who abandoned the site were fleeing)
For Day 3 Day, she's going to head back down to the other settlement and explore it - first the restaurant (SO curious about the weird statues), then the houses by the forest.
I don't think she’ll have time to really do much with the tower before she has to head back to the airfield to sleep, so just the smaller buildings.

DETAILS: Randvi will sleep 2 hours into the morning block again. Senku will be puttering around doing mad science for I'll say another 2 hours (he wants to build some kind of thing to distill sea water) so she will take that time to use some of the charcoal from last night’s fire on the pile of printer paper to start a map of locations they know on the island (1 hour) and search one of the smaller hangars for tools (1 hour)
Hour 5 of morning Senku can't take it anymore and they're heading back to the resort to mess with that bungalow lol. Senku is probably going to do some science stuff but Randvi is going back to the keypad. She’ll try every visible callsign (including her own in case this is some kind of ID-matching thing). If this doesn't work, what's the window situation like? Is there anything she would be able to do from the roof?

DETAILS: For the first time this week Randvi is going to wake up at the start of the day lol. And hopefully she was right about the elderberry prep time last night because she's got stuff to do.
First thing she's going to head west to around IX.Q.9 to fill up as many containers as she can with seawater for their still. Keeping an eye out for danger but prioritizing speed over searching for anything.
As soon as that's done, she and Senku are heading down to the resort to case out the hotel. I'm sure Senku will be looking for specific stuff but Randvi’s top priorities are a) keep Senku alive (she does not trust him to pay attention to his own safety if he gets excited lol) and b) make sure there aren't any people holed up in here that could sneak up on them at the airfield.
If they can get inside they'll explore each floor until either it's not safe to climb any further (fire damage, age etc) or they need to leave to get back to the airfield in time for the Night block.

DETAILS:
K wakes Senku and Randvi during hour 1 of the morning, and they’ll spend a couple of hours talking/preparing his food/showing him around the airfield.
Then after this, they're taking him on the magical mystery tour, so this will be pretty much the same as previous days: to the sea to collect salt water and to the river to check the snares (and K thinks he might be able to help with fishing so they'll talk about that there as well).
Only difference is on the way back they will swing by That Fucking Bungalow so he can see what they're working with there.

DETAILS: Senku volunteered Randvi and K to go look for Zam on day 7 night, so they'll be doing that today.
K is finishing the weir in the morning, so Randvi will move more clay for Senku’s oven in her tarp until he's done or she has enough. If she has any time left before Day she’ll gather supplies for the trip (fill water bottles etc).
They don't actually know much about where Zam is aside from “vaguely southeast” so they'll head southeast and not find her (since she's still lost on day 9) - I think this might run them into Senku’s enemy rivers so they'll kind of have to figure something out.
They'll probably have to make camp somewhere on the X tile and then head SE again on day 9.

DETAILS: Okay, so today is the day Zam will face the Enemy Rivers. They'll have her put her good arm around Randvi (river 1 and river 3) and K (river 2) with the other one spotting and Zam assisting as much as she can by kicking. I am expecting this to take most of the day lol.
Once (if) they're free of the rivers, they’ll head back to the airfield by way of the fishing weir.

DETAILS: I’ll give her an hour in the morning to talk to people because Levi might be causing problems and need a little good-natured threatening.
Their little village has guests, and will soon have way more guests, so time sharing the sofa in her room probably isn't going to cut it anymore.
First thing in the morning Randvi will go to the river near the fishing weir to set her snares again.
Then she'll head back to the airfield and clean out that office in the second hangar that she found a few days ago. That space is pretty small though so she’ll also clear out some floor space in the hangar she sleeps in - if there's any more tarps or canvas or even bags she will want those.
She can't get hay here and that's what would normally be on the floor for guests, so I think the next best thing is probably beach grasses if there are any? If there are she’ll spend some time collecting them and either spread them on the floor or make some makeshift bedding with them if she has the cloth. (probably another Viking culture shock moment coming up but it still beats sleeping on the ground lol)
I imagine this is going to take most of the day so there will be a break near the end of the day to go check the snares.

DETAILS: Senku and K are going to build a ladder with the wood Squalo found on day 11, so now it's time to head to the resort and climb! that! bungalow! Senku and Randvi are for sure going (and anyone else who wants to come) so he will be checking out the solar panels and she will be looking for a way inside via the roof.

DETAILS: Randvi and Senku (and Steph if she wants) are going to work on Squalo's raft today.
Randvi will spend the morning dragging any logs Squalo didn't get to his raft spot yesterday over there (search on the way back when she isn't dragging a log lol) and then the day block on construction with Senku. They're going to use the sailcloth piece to make a nice sail as well.

DETAILS: Okay, time to leave behind the mistakes of the past (day 13 hotel search) and start making the mistakes of the future (day 15 hotel search)!
Randvi and Steph are going to take an hour day 15 morning to make a makeshift grappling hook out of Team Science’s long rope and the mangled metal wire Randvi found, and then head back down to the hotel with a goal of climbing up.
If there's an elevator shaft or ceiling hole (or stairwell but I doubt it) to get off the first floor they'll start inside but if Randvi has to scale the outside for a floor or two she’ll do it.
They’ll be as careful as they can about the floor stability and try to keep a distance from each other so if there's a collapse they won't get taken out.
Getting up to where the real burned areas are is the main goal so Randvi won't be searching any lower floors super thoroughly.

DETAILS: Randvi is going to use the morning block to clean all the bedding she got at the hotel with some of their new soap (maybe scent it a bit with the lavender since that's starting to wilt a bit by now)
Once Martin reports the storm she's going to help the others prepare - dismantling the still, moving the oven and fire wood inside, and going with Senku to drag and tie the raft to a tree at IX.CC.9.
If she’s got time left she will help with other things like searching for/setting up barrels for rain capture and patching broken panels at the hangar.

DETAILS: Lightning strike evidence has made Randvi pretty wary of going outside so she’s mostly sticking to the hangar through Day 18-19.
HOWEVER, she is very freaked out by Zam’s sudden disappearance on Day 20 and will spend the entire Day block outside looking for her.

DETAILS: Randvi will spend an hour gathering supplies (food/water, medical etc) and then head out toward where Jet marked the office building on her map. She's planning to help him bring Jade back to the airfield, but I think the trip out there will bring her to present day.

DETAILS: Randvi is DYING to climb that cliff but she's got a job to do.
She will prepare a meal with supplies she brought for Jet and Jade (1 hour), take a one-hour power nap, and then head back toward the airfield.
Randvi and Jet will swap every couple of hours between who is carrying Jet’s swag and who is supporting Jade.

DETAILS: Randvi will check on all of the patients first thing in the morning, but then it's housekeeping time.
She’ll head to the beach at IX.P.9 to get water for the new still, then clear out all the (gross) old reeds people have been sleeping on for a week and replace them with fresh ones (if everything is too rain trampled this might have to be leaves from jungle edge around IX.T.7), then take the comforters to the river to wash with soap.
If there's any time left in the day block she’ll start on a meal for everyone.
